Kansas Survives And Big Names Could Be On The Move In The NBA
The NBA trade deadline day is always a rough one for us on the Mac Attack. At any given moment the Suit could make a deal and send one of us packing to another radio station. Celania brought his suitcase today in case he gets pulled during the show. Here is a couple things you may have missed overnight.
Jayhawks Survive: It took 2 overtimes but Kansas was able to hold off Oklahoma State in a thriller. Naadir Tharpe hit a jumper in the lane with 16.5 seconds left in the second overtime to seal the win. Two of the top prospects for the NBA Draft in June struggled mightily. Kansas Guard Ben McLemore was 3 for 12 from the field for 7 points and looked very passive at times. OSU Point Guard Marcus Smart finished with 16 points but shot just 2 for 14 and had only 1 assist.
NBA Deadline Rumors: According to Pete Vecsey, the Celtics offered Paul Pierce to the Nets for a top 2 or 3 player who he firmly believes was Joe Johnson. There were also reports late last night that the Celtics were shopping Rajon Rondo but the torn ACL may hinder that. For those that the follow the NBA closey a Rondo trade would not come as a complete shock. He is a difficult personality for Doc Rivers to deal with and is much more to suited to be around a veteran team that is a playoff team rather than a team that may have to rebuild. To me he is the Steve Buscemi of the NBA. We all love Buscemi when he is a part of a great cast but are we running to the movies to s ee him in a feature role?
Josh Smith Rumor: As Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld first reported (http://tinyurl.com/b7m34yr ), the Suns are pursuing Josh Smith and offering Marcin Gortat, Jared Dudley and a pick. I would be shocked if Josh Smith was a Hawk by the end of the day. I have no idea why a Smith for Dwight Howard trade has not been discussed more. Smith would give the Lakers everything they need and D12 would head home where he would be most comfortable.
Bobcats Rumors: Yeah we have nothing on that right now. Sorry, we can’t work miracles. Stayed tuned to us all morning though and I’m sure we can make up some rumors that will never happen
Mac Attack Guests: Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com and the NFL Network talks draft at 745am, UNC Head Coach Larry Fedora is at 810am, and former Pro Bowler Chris Hope of Rock Hill is at 930am.
