GAFFNEY, S.C. (CBS Charlotte) - A 12-year-old girl is in deep trouble with her father – and the law – after stealing a man’s truck and leading police on a 20-minute chase.
According to WSOC-TV, the local girl first got in a fight with her father on Monday night, before he fell asleep on the couch.
While he was resting, the girl reportedly snuck out of the house and traveled a quarter-mile distance on foot to the truck she ultimately stole.
The victim, who declined to be interviewed on camera by the station, said that he had left the truck at a VFW after it broke down.
She proceeded to drive the car out of state and into Charlotte, where she was finally spotted by authorities. WSOC-TV learned that the child reached speeds of up to 70 mph during her joy ride.
The girl has since returned home to her father, but is said to be facing several charges regarding her drive in Charlotte.
