Taylor’s Tuesday Top 25 And Tidbits, Top 10 Games To Watch
Since Roy Williams inserted PJ Hairston in the starting lineup North Carolina has played its best basketball. They fought for forty minutes in Cameron Indoor Stadium against one of the best teams in the country, and then imposed their will at home against Virginia. Most importantly, there was never a lapse in effort. Assuming that type of aggressive play continues tonight at Georgia Tech, and moving forward, the Tar Heels are a certainty to make the NCAA Tournament.
UNC hosts NC State on Saturday, but before that the Pack hosts Florida State tonight. Saturday’s overtime win at home against the ACC’s bottom dweller, Virginia Tech, was alarming for NC State. They had six days of rest, and usually play their best basketball in PNC Arena. Mark Gottfried’s biggest problem seems to be getting his team to impose its will on its opponent. The Wolfpack have way more talent than the Hokies, tonight’s opponent (FSU), and they’re better tnan the Tar Heels too. But I’m almost certain that their ups and downs in focus will not allow them to win both games, and could result in an early exit in the NCAA tournament.
