The #11 ranked Butler Bulldogs took a devastating loss to the 49ers of Charlotte this past Wednesday. Butler, who is atop of the A-10 Conference gave up the small lead late in the game, and fail victim to the 49ers 71-67 in a shootout at Butler.
The Bulldogs were riding a 12 game home winning streak before being toppled by Charlotte. The 49ers came into the game on a two game losing streak and were desperate for a win to stay alive in the conference. Point guard, Pierria Henry played exceptionally well giving 17 points along with some key free throws late in the game which helped close the deal.
Butler played without key player Andrew Smith, who suffered an injury in the previous game against George Washington. The 49ers are now just two games outside of 1st place in the A-10. In front of them stands 2nd place St. Louis who has been playing great basketball lately. The two teams square off at Saint Louis on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. If the 49ers want any chances of potentially making the tournament they will have to continue riding that momentum from Butler against the Billikens. Tune in Saturday for an epic battle for the A-10 conference.
