GREER, S.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Rapper DMX (Earl Simmons,) was arrested early Wednesday morning, for driving without a license in South Carolina.
According to local police officials, Simmons was arrested at 1 a.m. after leaving a gas station in Greer — with his 5-month-old daughter in the back seat of the car.
After spending nearly five hours in jail, Simmons was released after paying the required fine.
Simmons is no stranger to run-ins with the law. Since 1998, he has been arrested multiple times on charges ranging from using indecent language, unlicensed driving, impersonating a federal agent, driving under the influence, criminal possession of a weapon, drug possession, animal cruelty, reckless driving, to assault with a deadly weapon.
Additionally, he has been tried in court on numerous occasions for crimes related to assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, violating parole, drug possession, theft, and animal cruelty.
Several years ago, a warrant was issued for his arrest after failing to appear in court.
It was not immediately known if Simmons had a lawyer for his latest run-in with the law.
