(CBS Charlotte) — In most states in the U.S., buying a gun is like buying a pack of cigarettes — it’s incredibly easy as long as the purchaser has a Driver’s License.
In fact, in our country, around 40 percent of all gun purchases are made just by the purchaser presenting a valid Driver’s License. This often happens at gun shows, where background checks are not required. The Firearm Owners Protection Act, which was passed in 1986, protects a person’s right to own a gun.
