RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Republican Gov. Pat McCrory sounded like he was running the Charlotte city council meeting again as he presided for the first time at the monthly meeting of North Carolina’s 10 statewide elected executive branch officials.

The former Charlotte mayor led the Council of State quickly Tuesday morning through an agenda in a Raleigh board room. The council in part approves state property transactions and payments for fire damage at government buildings.

The council also approved constructing a cold storage warehouse at the Wilmington port to help farmers export meat, but GOP Labor Commissioner Cherie Berry voted no after raising concerns about the developer.

Democrats still hold a 6-4 advantage on the council. McCrory said he hoped for collaboration and social time among council members.
