Mac Attack 02/05/13: Former Head Coach turned analyst Matt Doherty joined the guys to discuss what famous Mac Attack listener scolded him at Panera Bread and he gave us his take on all the local ACC teams
“The way they beat a limping Virginia Tech team at home is not good” says Doherty. “They are on the weak side of the bubble to get into the NCAA tournament.”
He feels that McAdoo doesn’t have that star quality that can carry a team into the tournament, and also feels that point guard Marcus Paige will be a solid 4-year player but not like the big PGs such as Kendall Marshall or Raymond Felton.
Further talking about James McAdoo, the former UNC coach said that he was the beneficiary of an incredible team last year to the point that in this year he’s getting nothing handed to him easy.
Matt Doherty says that no players on the UNC team strike fear in other teams, but they aren’t in a good position playing Duke twice and Miami on the road and NC State at home.
On the last note, Doherty says that any team including Miami can make it to the Final Four this year based on the compression of all the top teams and having a bigger, stronger, more older team than others.
What do you think? Do you think UNC will make it to the Big Dance this year? Let us know in the Comment Section below.
