SOUTH MEMPHIS, Tenn. (CBS Charlotte) — A 2-year-old girl is fighting for her life after getting shot while watching cartoons inside her family’s home.

WMC-TV reports a stray bullet struck Chrissiya Berry after people in a South Memphis apartment complex started shooting following an argument.

“We were watching TV and then I heard gunshots and one had come through the window and shot C.C.,” 6-year-old Christie Berry, Chrissiya’s sister, told WMC-TV.

Henry McCracken, who watches the girls while their mom is at work, says the Warren Apartments complex is too violent to live at.

“I damn sure want it to be shut down,” he told the station.

He added that he yelled for everyone in his apartment to get down after he started hearing the gunshots.

“Five or six shots first, then I started yelling get on the floor get on the floor and they all started hollering and screaming and laying down,” McCracken told WMC-TV.

Police say one other man was shot and taken to Methodist South Hospital.

No suspects have been named in the case.
