Good Samaritan Shot While Trying To Help Woman
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — 12/20/12 Update: Yesterday, CMPD officers arrested a teenager in connection with this crime. The suspect, Deandre Tavius White, shot a Good Samaritan who had stopped on the side of the road to intervene during a domestic dispute between White and his girlfriend.
Afterwards, White and his girlfriend went back to their vehicle and drove off. A police pursuit ensued, and during the ordeal, White’s girlfriend managed to get out of the car. White crashed a short time later on W.T. Harris Boulevard. He fled the scene on foot, but police caught up with him in the parking lot of the Kangaroo Express. White was taken to the hospital due to injuries he sustained from the car accident.
Both the victim and the suspect are expected to be okay. White faces a slew of charges, ranging from assault with a deadly weapon to leading officers on a police chase.
12/19/2012: A short time ago, a Good Samaritan was shot in the leg on West Sugar Creek Road.
The Good Samaritan was shot while trying to intervene during a domestic dispute. The domestic dispute involved a man and a woman who had pulled their car over near North Tryon Street.
The man involved in the domestic dispute fled the scene, and has been identified as the shooter. He is currently in custody, after crashing a few blocks away.
The Good Samaritan was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, and is expected to be okay.
