What better way to celebrate the Sunday before Christmas than at a Panther tailgate at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC? Here is a favorite seasonal poem, done up southern’ style, just to help everyone get in the mood:
‘Twas the weekend before Christmas and all of the Panther Fans
Were gathered together in the lots and the stands.
It’s Bank of America Stadium and a holiday home game
Let’s put those Oakland Raiders to shame!
The tailgating was awesome, as was the beer
The folks in Lot 1 even BBQ’d a deer.
They raised plastic glasses of Olde Meck’s Mecktoberfest
Toasting one another and wishing the best.
Enjoying the holiday lights on the vans and SUVs
As the people in Lot 99 decorate blue and silver Christmas trees,
The excitement is high while giving the chili a good stir-
Hey, doesn’t that Santa look like Sir Purr?
A tailgater’s Christmas party only comes once a year
Bring on the hot wings, the fried turkey and camping gear!
Celebrate the season with spicy food and spiked drinks,
Serve up the shrimp and grits and the expensive cheese that stinks!
Raise a glass of craft beer and trade a million high-fives
Surrounded by kids, best friends, girlfriends and wives.
The Panther tailgate for Christmas is the best Sunday show
To hang out with all of the like-minded football people you know.
Sample all of the platters from the local restaurants and brews
From Price’s fried chicken to RiRa’s Beef n’ Guinness Stew.
Have some fried oysters, vinegar-based pulled pork and homefries -
Even when you think that you’re full, save room for the pie!
Wearing NFL gear and enjoying the Southern sun,
Fans are grillin’ and chillin’ and having some fun.
There are bells jingling from boots as they walk up Mint Street
Everyone wants those California wimps beat!
Once entering the stadium, there is plenty to see
It’s festive and cheerful and full of holiday glee.
Carolina fans love the winter, since everybody knows
Charlotte is a town where it almost never snows!
As TopCats cheer on the Carolinas’ favorite team
Everyone waits for Cam Newton to arrive on the scene.
The boys look handsome in their black jerseys this week-
Can Ron Rivera get them to break this year’s losing streak?
It’s a Tailgating Christmas, with Sir Purr leading the way
He’s wearing a red hat and driving a four wheelin’ sleigh.
You can hear him exclaim, ‘ere the kickoff was in sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to the Panthers a winning night!”
