CHARLESTON, S.C. (CBS Charlotte) – A married couple’s fight over the remote control went a little too far.

The Charleston Police Department says Albert McAlister and Kara Harris Mahon are behind bars after getting into a fight over the television remote at the Charleston Place Hotel.

Hotel security told authorities they received complaints about an argument in one of the rooms.

Police then arrived at the room of McAlister and Mahon, who have been married almost six months.

The police report stated that Mahon was “very upset and trembling” following the fight.

She explained to police that her intoxicated husband was lying in bed with her when he was unable to locate the remote control.

According to the police report, Mahon told authorities that when she located the remote, she threw it at her husband. Her husband responded by punching her on the forehead. She then bit him on his arm.

Police said that a “grossly intoxicated” McAlister told them “nothing happened.”

Police noticed the bite mark on his arm which he said “was just a scratch from earlier.”

The couple was booked into the Charleston County Detention Center and charged with criminal domestic violence.
