Man Attacks Cashier With Screwdriver During Attempted Robbery
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a report of an attempted robbery/stabbing on Saturday evening.
The incident took place at the Family Dollar on South Tryon St., after the suspect approached the checkout counter and made a purchase. Once the cash register drawer opened, the suspect attempted to remove cash from the drawer. The Family Dollar clerk acted quickly and prevented the robbery by closing the register drawer. The suspect then began attacking the cashier with a screwdriver.
The cashier was not injured during the attempted robbery/stabbing, and as of this morning, the suspect is still at large.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department needs help from the public in order to capture the suspect. He is described as being in his 30′s and is approximately 6’3” tall and 300 pounds, and may be driving an older model black Chevrolet SUV.
