CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Today is the first day of a 36 hour continuous free dental clinic hosted by The North Carolina Dental Society. The clinic is being held at the Charlotte Convention Center, and hundreds of people are waiting inside.
The primary purpose of the clinic is to provide dental care to people who otherwise would not be able to afford dental services. More than 800 dental professionals are on hand to fill cavities, clean teeth, perform extractions, and may also be able to provide partial dentures.
The clinic will provide free dental care to anyone 18 years and older, with additional programs being offered for children. Around 100 chairs are available for patients during the 36 hour service period.
