CHARLOTTE (CBS Charlotte) – A Swedish woman is facing charges of disturbing the peace of the dead after she was reportedly caught engaging in sexual activity with a human skeleton on film.
The unnamed 37-year-old Gothenburg woman was found to be in possession of a full human skeleton by police, as well as multiple skulls and a box filled with other miscellaneous bones, according to Reuters.
In addition to the remains, investigating authorities also reportedly found multiple CDs with videos of the woman copulating with the corpse, with titles such as “my necrophilia” and “my first experience.” Pictures of the acts were allegedly found as well.
“She is interested in the dead,” prosecutor Kristina Ehrenborg-Staffas told Reuters. “She has pictures of morgues, churches and graveyards.”
In the United States, multiple states had active laws prohibiting sex with a corpse, though North Carolina does not. Also, there are no federal laws banning the practice.
Police were initially summoned to the unemployed woman’s house while responding to calls of shots fired at the home, Reuters learned.
The woman maintained her innocence, however, claiming that she purchased the bones online, and owned them for historical purposes.
She also reportedly told police that the woman in the recovered photographs was not her.
Reuters reported that court proceedings on the matter are set to begin next week. If she is found guilty, she could face up to two years in jail.
