Former CIA Director David Petraeus resigned this past Friday, after confirming that he had an affair with local author Paula Broadwell. Broadwell, who wrote a book about Petraeus, has remained unavailable for comment since the affair surfaced. Both Petraeus and Broadwell are married and have children with their respected spouses. As of this morning, several news trucks were parked outside Broadwell’s home in Dilworth — in hopes of obtaining a statement from her.
According to WBTV, Broadwell spent a year with Petraeus in Afghanistan from July 2010 through July 2011 interviewing him for a book she co-wrote, “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.” This was during the period while he led the International Security Assistance Force there. On Friday it was announced that Petraeus tendered his resignation to President Barack Obama, citing the affair.
