NEWTON, N.C. (AP) — Two teens have pleaded guilty to lesser charges in the death of a cab driver in Hickory last year.

Seventeen-year-old Emily Katherine Starnes and 17-year-old Consandra Nicole Tyree pleaded guilty Wednesday to felony accessory after the fact to murder, armed robbery, conspiracy and obstruction of justice.

Prosecutors dropped murder charges against the teens for the August 2011 death of 32-year-old Adam Williams.

Superior Court Judge A. Robinson Hassel sentenced the teens to between about four years and six years in prison.

The teens have agreed to testify against three other people charged in Williams’ death.

Matthew Gene Hopkins, Camryn Frederick Johnson and Robert Shannon McElwee are awaiting trial.

Police say the group decided to rob a cab driver to get ingredients to make methamphetamine.
