RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The remnants of Hurricane Sandy are expected to impact Amtrak service through North Carolina, but the state’s two Raleigh-to-Charlotte trains are operating as scheduled.

N.C. Department of Transportation spokeswoman Sondra Artis said Amtrak’s Piedmont and Carolinian passenger trains between Raleigh and Charlotte will run on Tuesday. The Carolinian, which travels from Charlotte to New York, will not leave the state.

Artis said the Crescent, the AutoTrain, the Palmetto, the Silver Star and the Silver Meteor are canceled. Amtrak’s bus service in eastern North Carolina is also canceled on Tuesday. She said it’s expected that passenger train service through North Carolina will resume on Thursday.
