They have been battered and bruised and they drag a 1-5 record into the Windy City for their game on Sunday but Panthers will look to do what no other team has been able to accomplish this season and that is beat the Bears at home. That might be easier said than done although playing the game might just be something they actually look forward considering what happened this past week.

It was emotionally draining to many when GM Marty Hurney was let go but nothing could have prepared them for losing two more starters for the season.

Three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Jon Beason landed on injured reserve for the second straight year and will have surgery next week to repair cartilage damage in his right knee and a torn labrum in his left shoulder. To replace him on the 53-man roster Carolina claimed cornerback James Dockery off waivers from the Browns.  Dockery is a welcomed addition considering that cornerback Chris Gamble landed on IR earlier in the week with a bad shoulder.

There will be some shifting of positions to make up for the latest losses with super-rookie  Luke Kuechly will likely take over at middle linebacker for the duration after starting the season at the weak side LB spot.

Captain Munnerlyn, who has been bothered by a leg problem but is expected to be ready on Sunday, reclaimed his starter role at left corner after being displaced earlier in the season by rookie Josh Norman who settled in as number three. Josh Thomas should get the start on the left side.

Two other starters, DT Dwan Edwards and DE Charles Johnson, went through a full practice on Friday.

The Bears are in much better shape. Quarterback Jay Cutler, who took a vicious hit from Ndamukong Suh in last week’s victory over the Lions, had a full practice on Friday and will start against the Panthers. The loss of wide receiver Alshon Jeffery is not a major one with Eric Weems or Earl Bennett ready to step in behind starter Devin Hester.
