Rogersville, Tenn. (CBS Charlotte) – Police in Hawkins County, Tenn. say a father stabbed his son in the leg with a kitchen knife over who would have the last beer in their house.

Deputies were initially sent to Hawkins County Memorial Hospital to question the victim, Brandon Justin Crabtree, according to KSEE-24.

“Brandon stated the argument turned physical, and at that time he realized he had been stabbed,” deputy Wesley Seals said in a police report. “Brandon stated he then had his brother take him to the emergency room.”

Deputies then questioned the father, Timothy Crabtree, according to the station.

“Timothy stated that they had been drinking and got into an altercation when Brandon got out of control, pushed him to the ground, and started assaulting him,” deputy Sam Wilhoit said the report. “Timothy stated he grabbed a kitchen knife that was laying on the kitchen counter and stabbed his son twice in the leg to get him off of him.”

Brandon Crabtree was treated for stab wounds to his leg.

Police reportedly charged Timothy Crabtree with aggravated domestic assault – a felony – and Brandon Crabtree with domestic assault, a misdemeanor.

According to authorities, both were released from jail, and will both be arraigned in Hawkins County Court later this month.
