There is one word that Carolina Panthers fans should be looking for in their team’s final eleven games: FIRE. Okay, let’s use a few more: passion, intensity, anger, and maybe most important, pride.

When you go into the Panthers locker room these days you don’t see enough of those words. I’ve often described the scene like a “country club atmosphere.” That needs to change dramatically. Its hard to believe that with the lack of talenty on defense, and the injuries on the offensive line that this team can make anything resembling a playoff run. But they can leave their hearts on the football field each Sunday. I’m not sure that was the case against Tampa, the Giants, and Seahawks. In fact, General Manager Marty Hurney has questioned the team’s intensity and performance in those three games, as well as the Saints victory.

Regardless of the outcome against the Atlanta Falcons a few weeks ago, that kind of performance is what Panthers fans deserve on a weekly basis. While supporting a winning team would be nice, at least getting one tha plays with FIRE sure would be nice.

NFL Picks (last week 7-7, 57-34 for the season)
Niners over Hawks
Dallas at Panthers
Giants over Skins
Packers at Rams
Saints at Bucs
Bills over Titans
Texans over Ravens

The South Carolina Gamecocks had the most impressive loss of the college football season at LSU on Saturday night. they proved they could hang toe to toe, in the most hostile environment, againt one of the best teams in the country. Because of that I really like their chances in the Swamp this Saturday. The Cocks have an incredibly good defense, a great running game, and a very athletic QB. But that QB, Connor Shaw, must prove he can throw to win. His decision making is what cost the Cocks a shot at victory last Saturday. One more of those and South Carolina’s chances for the National Championship, the SEC title, or even getting to Atlanta will all go up in smoke.

Picks (33-33 against the spread, 6-4 last week)
Clemson -9 vs VT
U.Va -4 vs Wake
Ga Tech -14 vs BC
NC State -3 at Maryland
S Caro +3 at Florida
UNC -10.5 at Duke
FSU -17.5 at Miami
