CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Panthers third-year wide receiver David Gettis says he plans to return to practice Monday following a lengthy layoff.

Gettis spent the first six weeks of the NFL season on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list with a hamstring injury after missing all of last season recovering from a torn ACL in his knee.

He says he’s “100 percent and ready to go” and eager to make an impact for the Panthers. Under NFL rules, Gettis can begin practicing Monday and the Panthers have a three week window to activate him to the 53-man roster.

Gettis started 15 games as a rookie for the Panthers in 2010 playing alongside Steve Smith and caught 37 passes for 508 yards receiving and three touchdowns.

The Panthers have a bye this weekend.
