CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) — A walk-on football player at North Carolina has been suspended after he was arrested and charged with assault.
Chapel Hill police arrested 18-year-old Nicholas Apostolos Weiler early Sunday after an officer reported that he saw Weiler hit a person in the face.
Weiler is a freshman punter. He has not played this season.
Weiler is charged with felony assault afflicting injury and four misdemeanors: simple assault, resisting arrest, underage possession of alcohol and possession of a fake ID.
An arrest report accuses him walking away after police approached him.
