RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The man who owns what’s described as the most extensive personal collection of memorabilia from the movie “Gone with the Wind” is in Raleigh to lead tours of a museum exhibit.

James Tumblin will lead the tours of the exhibit, “Real to Reel: The Making of Gone with the Wind,” Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the N.C. Museum of History.

Tumblin is the former head of the Universal Studios makeup and hair department, who bought the first piece of his collection for $20. That’s the dress that Vivien Leigh wore in the Shantytown scene.

It and Leigh’s Academy Award for playing Scarlett O’Hara are among the items in the exhibit.

Also Sunday, a UNC Charlotte history professor will discuss how various groups created a romanticized vision of the “Old South.”
