Reporting Chris “Mac” McClain
Ok, Lets hope the Mac curse isn’t striking here, but I firmly believe the Cats will beat the G-Men tonight. And,without further ado, here is why……
1) Injuries–Even if the Cats don’t have Stew and Byron Bell, the Giants will be without their RB and RT too. Plus, Hakeem Nicks and Domenik Hixon won’t play at WR. That is 4 key players out for their offense in a game that could very well be a shootout. Can they score with the Panthers without Nicks? I seriously doubt it.
2) Defense looks better-Hope I am not saying this too soon, but the Defense appears to have made strides. The Pass Rush and the coverage by the corners was strong last week. Drew Brees was under pressure on 40 percent of the snaps and the wide receivers were held in check. And, I love the fact that DC Sean McDermott has made adjustments after shaky starts in both games.
3) Giants Secondary is hurt and shaky–Corey Webster is their best CB and he has yielded 15.5 yards per pass attempt this season. And, with Terrell Thomas out, the others are young and shaky. Michael Coe and Prince Amukamara are shaky and dinged up. The Panthers lead the league in 20 yard pass plays with 12. Expect more tonight.
Prediction: Both offenses make noise and the Cats win a thriller. Panthers 30-24
