The overall sentiment in the Panthers locker room during the second week of the NFL season is one of eagerness to play their home opener against the New Orleans Saints and forgetting their lackluster offense in Week 1 versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cam Newton talked to reporters briefly at this week’s locker room media day, but he is more excited than anxious to play this weekend against the Saints and prove themselves better than 10 points against the Tampa Bay.
But Cam did address if his team’s play will be affected by last year’s New Orleans Saints bounty scandal which listed the Panther QB as one of the guys on the hit list.
“If you’re trying to find some type of animosity or some type of edge going into this week…this week is nothing different,” says Cam. “It’s a conference game that we need to win. That’s our edge.”
Other Carolina Panthers players commented about Jonathan Stewart’s injury, but the running back left the with undecided as to if he will be playing in Week 2 against the Saints. Watch this interview along with comments from Charles Johnson, Brandon LaFell, and more below.
