SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has arrested more than 30 people in an operation targeting illegal prescription drugs.

Sheriff Chuck Wright told reporters Tuesday officers are looking for seven more people accused of being involved in the operation. Wright says the arrests concluded an eight-month investigation.

Wright says the drugs include several well-known types of pain killers and other prescriptions.

He says the suspects were getting the drugs from a doctor, or multiple doctors, and then selling them on the street.

The sheriff says the federal Drug Enforcement Administration is helping in the investigation.

Wright says some doctors could be prescribing medications in good faith, but some may be prescribing too many drugs.
