From The Mac Attack
Mac Attack 09/05/12: Heat Guard Dwyane Wade joined Mac to discuss his new book, his taunting of Cam Newton last season, and much more!
Dwayne Wade’s new book, “A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball,” isn’t necessarily a guidebook or manual on how to be a full-time dad. He just wants to show you his experiences with his kids, not trying to be considered the best dad in America.
“Basketball you can do that in your sleep,” he says. “But when it comes to parenting, you gotta stop, you gotta think, you gotta breathe…No book has all the right answers.”
When discussing Wade making Cam Newton’s signature Superman pose while Cam was front row at a Bobcats game, he didn’t mean to upset Panther fans or disrespect Cam Newton.
“He is a good friend,” says Cam and was just “paying homage to one of the best athletes in sports in general.”
Dwayne was pretty shocked when the hatred of the Miami Heat started once Lebron James joined the team. He loved the fact that he was playing with one of his best friends in the league, but in the first year, they didn’t enjoy playing the game, especially with the crowds constant boos.
Winning his second national championship this year, Wade says that it took “the monkey off of ” Lebron’s back and he’s in his prime to help out the Heat for years to come.
Listen more about Wade’s knee injury recovery, missing the Olympics in London, and working with Coach K.
