Taylor’s Top 25, College and Pro Predictions
There seems to be a lot of guarded optimism surrounding the Carolina Panthers this season. An objective person could look at their offense and think they have a chance to be the best in the entire league (see Cam Newton, backfield, Olsen, and Smitty). But with glaring weaknesses on their defensive line and in the secondary you wonder how they’ll ever get off of the football field. I’m expecting LB Jon Beason to come back, stay healthy, and play at a very high level. But without him the season could be barely better than last year.
Meanwhile, college football’s first weekend opened with a whimper. The marquis game was a snoozer, as Alabama steamrolled Michigan, while Clemson’s victory over auburn and Virginia Tech’s over Georgia Tech lacked excitement. And don’t expect much more this weekend. There isn’t a single matchup pitting top 25 teams against each other. But have no fear. Once week 3 rolls around all of that will change (Bama at Hogs).
