CHARLOTTE (CBS Charlotte) — North Carolina’s governor believes that “you’ll see women die” if a Mitt Romney administration bans abortions nationwide.
Speaking to MSNBC, Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue says women will take extreme measures to perform an abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned.
“They are going to go somewhere to end the pregnancy if they can afford it,” Perdue told MSNBC. “But for poor women, you’ll be back to the days of coat hangers in the bathtub and you’ll see women die.”
Gov. Perdue later added that the “end game” for Romney is to appoint conservative judges across the country to get Roe v. Wade overturned.
“That’s right out of Karl Rove’s playbook,” she told MSNBC. “People have got to stand up.”
Perdue is expected to address delegates at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday evening. First Lady Michelle Obama will be tonight’s featured speaker.
