DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — The North Carolina chapter of the NAACP is set to announce a statewide mobilization for voter registration planned for this weekend.

The Rev. William Barber is scheduled to announce the mobilization at a news conference Friday evening at St. Joseph AME Church in Durham. Barber is president of the state NAACP.

Other speakers include the Rev. Amos Brown, former chairman of the religious affairs committee of the NAACP National Board of Directors and pastor of 3rd Baptist Church in San Francisco.

NAACP branches and their supporters will go to neighborhoods, churches, parks, libraries and other public spaces this weekend to register people to vote.
