CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — With less than two weeks before the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, the public is getting a sneak peek at what’s been done to get its downtown arena ready for the event.
Democrats have spent $7 million to prepare the Time Warner Cable Arena for a convention that will bring 35,000 people to Charlotte.
The Democratic National Convention Committee said Wednesday that it will hold an Aug. 31 open house to give the public a glimpse of the arena.
The Democratic convention is being held from Sept. 4-6. For the first two days, the arena in downtown Charlotte will be the main venue.
On the last day, President Barack Obama will make his acceptance speech at the 74,000-seat outdoor Bank of America Stadium.
