‘Machine Gun Social’ To Be Hosted By Asheville Tea Party
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) – In an attempt to raise money for their cause, the Asheville Tea Party and Asheville Tea Political Action Committee will be holding an event billed as the “Machine Gun Social,” where attendees can pay money to fire automatic weapons.
According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, the group will offer participants and supporters the chance to shoot a 30-round clip from a 9mm submachine gun – such as an Uzi – for $25.
Other types of guns will reportedly be available for use at higher costs.
The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Bear Arms Indoor Range in Brevard.
Chairwoman Jane Bilello told the Citizen-Times that the event is geared toward people looking to financially support Tea Party candidates while getting to experience firing machine guns.
“It’s a lot of fun,” Bilello said. “It’s a really cool thing to do. Our folks love it.”
This is not the first time the group has held such an event. A post on their website indicates that the Asheville Tea PAC held another social earlier this year, on April 7. It, too, was billed as a fundraiser.
