CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A Mount Pleasant couple is facing sentencing in the starvation death of their 9-month-old son.
Charles Lewis Gordon IV and his wife, Ashley, entered pleas of homicide by child neglect in Charleston on Tuesday. The charge carries a sentence of 20 years to life in prison and the couple returns to court Thursday to find out their fate.
Authorities say the couple’s son, Andrew, was found starved to death in their home two years ago. The child was unresponsive and weighed just 6 pounds, 9 ounces, or almost 2 pounds less than when the child was born.
