Mac Attack 8/6/12: Panthers general manager Marty Hurney joins the Mac Attack to continue talking Panthers football. He talks about the current Panther injury problems as well as hoping that some of the young offensive backups can step up and give Carolina a little extra juice.
We asked Hurney which positions he was worried most about on this year’s Panthers team. Hurney didn’t express a lot of worry, yet he called for several places where he’d like to see more players stepping up to develop some depth.
“I think that somebody’s got to step up at tight end behind Greg Olsen. I think that we have some young guys that look good in the interior as far as backups in the interior offensive line. I think our front group is doing very well…I think that the third receiver is an area of competition. We have some guys there and we helped the competition there with the acquisition of Louis Murphy. I think that the competition at the second corner spot and the backup at safety.”
