RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The conservative activist known for his hidden-camera videos targeting the community organizing group ACORN, Planned Parenthood and National Public Radio is getting a featured role at a North Carolina event that aims to train and unleash new activists.
James O’Keefe is Friday’s keynote speaker as the conservative Civitas Institute aims to train people in how to collect information and share it with others.
O’Keefe became famous for wearing a pimp costume in a video that embarrassed the community organizing group ACORN and generated a congressional backlash that forced it to disband.
Critics say O’Keefe selectively edits his video to attack liberal or government targets. O’Keefe’s Project Veritas website last week posted undercover videos from Medicaid offices in four states.
