Steph Curry & Jon Beason Join The Mac Attack
Mac Attack 7/13/12: Golden State Warrior and former Davidson Wildcat Steph Curry along with Jon Beason stopped by to talk with Mac about their upcoming seasons and thoughts on their teams’ off seasons.
Steph Curry, who is recently married and expecting a baby very soon, talked to us about Harrison Barnes and what it will be like to play with him.
“I’ve watched him, obviously my brother is at Duke so I’ve watched the Duke Carolina rivalry and seen what kind of talent there is,” said Curry. “We’ve made some moves to open up that three spot for Harrison to come in and really make an impact, so I’m looking forward to getting him out there and helping him become a better player and hopefully we can make some noise.”
Jon Beason also joined us in the same interview while we were at the classic. He talked about coming back from his injury this season and told us what he is expecting of himself.
“That’s the thing. Anytime you deal with an injury, everyone is focused on getting back,” said Beason. “I don’t want to be who I was. I want to be a better player, take that next step in my career. I’m going into my sixth season now. For me, I want to be better than I was. That was the mentality going through the process of the rehab and obviously with the training.”
After a year of great offense, the pressure and scrutiny is falling predominantly on the Carolina defense as speculation flies about the upcoming season. We asked Beason how he is looking at those conversations right now.
“We know that we had a sub par year last year,” Beason said. “Statistically, we were not very good in a lot of phases…We realize that the pressure is on us. We had 18 guys collectively on IR last year, and it’s hard to win like that when you’re not on the field. But, there’s no excuses and that pressure is something we want.”
