The Drive Wednesday 7-11-12-Ryan McGee checks in with The Drive to talk about our daily topics of the best place to watch a college football game in the south, plus we get his thoughts on the Clemson recruiting story of a recruit asking for his friends to get scholarships too.
Talking about the current Clemson recruiting story, McGee said allowing incoming athletes to make demands is just going to open the door to bigger problems.
“Quite frankly, we’re all kind of guilty about empowering these kids,” McGee said. “If you make these kids believe they’re a much bigger deal than they are just in life, they’re going to start demanding things. This is where you see the seeds of these athletes having no grasp of reality.”
We also asked him about the current conference changes and alignments. He said he’s concerned about the dynamic that is forming in college football.
“Everybody keeps trying to tell me that we’re not headed to super conferences. Yet when you see these alignments taking place, you see these bowl games separating themselves and you feel like some of the lower level bowl games are going to wilt and go away…I think we’ll see a bigger separation, and I think we’re absolutely headed towards some type of super conference scenario.”
