Mac Attack 7/3/12: BCS executive director Bill Hancock joins the guys to talk about the new college football playoff system and what is going on around the game.
We addressed the new system of committees with Hancock. Although they will not be functioning for another two seasons, he still gave us a blueprint idea of what they will look like.
“I think the best model will be NCAA championships committees. As you know they have a committee for every sport. ..That may not be the precise template, but I think that will be the model. I think we’ll have between 10 and 20 members., maybe somewhere toward the middle of that. I expect every conference will have a representative.
Some have expressed disappointment that more teams are not chosen for the tournament. Hancock explained that even though the concept was discussed it was ultimately not feasible.
“They think we’ve already added enough games. These are college students. They’re not 30-year-old men, and we’re going to have 15 games in this system…The other thing is that we have a fairly narrow time window to play this tournament. it has to be between the end of finals and the start of the second semester. That doesn’t really allow time for three weeks of games.”
