Officials: FBI Investigating NC Airport, Employees
MORGANTON, N.C. (AP) — Officials at a North Carolina airport say federal agents have opened an investigation, and two employees have been suspended without pay.
The Foothills Regional Airport Authority says the FBI’s probe involves the airport’s manager and another employee. Both have been suspended.
FBI officials declined to confirm any investigation into the airport. Airport officials say federal and local agents were there last week and seized records and computers.
Officials say the airport is open as usual. Longtime employee Brent Brinkley is working as acting administrator.
The airport straddles the Burke-Caldwell county line about 70 miles northwest of Charlotte. It is used for general aviation and charter, instructional and cargo flights.
