NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Two people held in Louisiana are suspects in the death of a Bourbon Street stripper whose body parts recently washed ashore on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

That word is from Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan of the Hancock County, Miss., Sheriff’s Department. He says 28-year-old Margaret Sanchez and 39-year-old Terry Christopher Speaks are being held on charges unrelated to the death of 22-year-old Jaren Lockhart. He says they have not been charged with her death but are being questioned as suspects.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten said Speaks was in federal custody Wednesday after U.S. Marshals arrested him on a North Carolinawarrant accusing him of failing to register as a sex offender.

A brief indictment said he was accused in Surry County, N.C., but does not describe the sex offense.
