RUTHERFORDTON, N.C. (AP) — A man has been charged with murder in the killing of a former Western Carolina football player.
Rutherford County deputies said 26-year-old Napolean Edgerton was arrested Friday.
Investigators say Edgerton shot 21-year-old Antonitus “Buddy” Robinson several times April 10 at an abandoned home in Forest City during a drug deal.
Robinson played defensive line for the Catamounts from 2009 to 2011.
Edgerton is in jail awaiting his first court appearance Monday. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.
