ROCK HILL, S.C. (CBS Charlotte) — Police say an umpire was attacked by baseball players he ejected from a game.

According to a Rock Hill Police Department incident report, 42-year-old William Brakefield told authorities that the players initially threatened him after he ejected them from the game at Cherry Park.

“I’m gonna (mess) you up and beat your (butt),” the players told Brakefield, according to police.

The players accused Brakefield of kicking them out of the game due to racial reasons.

After Brakefield turned to leave the field, he told authorities that the ejected players punched him in the back of the head.

Park officials told police that they did not have any information on the team members involved in the incident.

The suspects have yet to be apprehended. When they are, they will be charged with assault and battery.
