GREER, S.C. (CBS Charlotte) — South Carolina authorities say a teenage girl met a man on Facebook in a plot to kill her parents.
According to a Greer Police Department report obtained by CBS Charlotte, 16-year-old Kathleen Fentress and 20-year-old Justin Foss held the girl’s mother and stepfather hostage for nearly four hours Tuesday morning.
The girl’s mother, Stephanie Cowart, told authorities that Foss entered their house around 5 a.m. and stabbed her husband, Ulie Cowart, in the neck.
The police report states that Fentress and Foss tied up and covered up Stephanie Cowart’s mouth with painter’s tape, threatening her with a gun and keeping her against her will.
Police say that Foss and Fentress took all the phones in the house during the time he was holding the Cowarts hostage. The couple left around 8:45 a.m.
After they left, Stephanie Cowart ran next door to get help from their neighbors, who immediately called police.
She told police that both Fentress and Foss met on Facebook.
WBTV reports that both were arrested without incident.
Fentress and Foss have been charged with attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.
