Mac Attack 3/2/12: UNC Assistant Video Coordinator, and former Heels guard Bobby Frasor calls in to talk about working on the Tarheels staff, what this season has been like for the Tarheels, what to expect for Saturday night’s game, and his experience playing in the rivalry.
Frasor was a bit disappointed of the Tarheels’ performances of late, but hoped they could pull it together for the Duke/UNC game.
“Hopefully we can make some plays down the stretch…we are one step away from being on top of the world…one shot at making us feel totally different. It’s intense. That’s what this rivalry is all about, it’s really fun.”
Frasor remembers the Duke/UNC rivalry fondly back to when he played for the Tar Heels, saying that his all time favorite match up against the Blue Devils was his senior year, where the victory over Duke advanced them to 4-0.
“The fact that we were 3-0 going in over there, you would think there was a lot of pressure to go 4-0 [against Duke]…my senior year, coming off the bench, I wanted to contribute in any way, I was shooting terribly that whole season and for some reason when we played against Duke my shooting came back and I scored three threes in the first half.”
A less pleasant memory for Frasor is the infamous elbow by Gerald Henderson to Tyler Hansborough. He still wishes he could go back in time and retaliate, but knows at this point in time, the feelings of bitterness have lessened significantly.
“Bitter isn’t the right word…I don’t think it’s ok…looking back on it, I probably could have been a Carolina legend if I had retaliated while I was on the court. Spear tackled him or done something crazy like that…I think Tyler thinks about it and still isn’t happy…I didn’t process it at all [at the time]…he tries to go back up and scores…looking back on it I wish I had done something, [had processed what had just happened].”
