Rookie Biyombo Moving To Center For Bobcats
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Bobcats coach Paul Silas says he’s “permanently” moving rookie Bismack Biyombo to center where he’ll backup starter Byron Mullens.
That decision comes following an impressive game by Biyombo in Tuesday night’s loss at Orlando.
Biyombo is only 6-foot-9, but Silas considers him the team’s “toughest player.”
Biyombo showed that against the Magic, posting his best game offensively with his first career double-double — 11 points and 10 rebounds. Even though Magic center Dwight Howard scored 24 points and had 11 rebounds, Silas likes the job Biyombo did on Orlando’s dominant big man. Biyombo had four blocks and nine defensive rebounds and seemed to frustrate Howard late in the game.
Prior to Tuesday, Biyombo had been working as the third-string power forward.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday night at Chicago.
