This coming weekend starts the NFL playoffs with 2 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. So I bring you my obviously genius predictions.
In the AFC the Pittsburgh Steelers play in Denver against the Broncos. I would love to pick the Broncos and Tim Tebow here, as I am not a Steelers fan, but the Steelers offense and experience should trump the Denver defense. I will however take the points with Denver because I think 9 is too much. Pittsburgh 24-17.
In the other AFC match up the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Houston to take on the Houston Oilers…. er oops, I mean Texans. Even though I’m happy for the Houston franchise (making their first playoff appearance) I like what Cincy is doing with their young offensive weapons. I’ll take the Bengals 31-21.
On the NFC side of things the games might be a little tougher to pick. The Atlanta Falcons go north to New York and take on the Giants in what could be their head coachs’ last game. I mean c’mon, how many lives does that cat have? I have not been impressed with the Giants all year I hope the Falcons win and send Tom Coughlin on his way. Atlanta wins on the road 28-21.
As much as I would love to see Matt Stafford throw 5 touchdowns to Calvin Johnson I just don’t see it happening. New Orleans offense can probably out score anyone. Throw in the fact they are at home and I’ll take the Saints 42-28.
I’ll be back next week with the division predictions. Until then follow me on Twitter @BruceRWilson
