So…What Is Lowes Foods All About?
Lowes Food Stores, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Alex Lee, Inc., which was founded in 1954. The grocery store conglomerate employs approximately 9000 people and operates 107 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina as well as in Virginia. Standing upon the commitment of offering fresh and fantastic foods, Lowes Foods offers personal attention to each of its customers and support and interest within the communities it serves. When it comes to those food purchases, local products and supporting local suppliers is paramount to Lowes Foods! Farm-fresh produce and dairy that is produced locally is what Lowes offers customers! Such programs as “Lowes Foods To Go” personal shopping service and the online meal planner are programs that combine innovation, creativity, ingenuity and ways for customers to cut costs, save money and plan meals packed with nutrition and great taste!
Friends Feeding Friends…Hope & Help
The “Friends Feeding Friends Annual Food Drive”, which runs through December 31, is a program in which Lowes Foods collects food donations in all of their stores across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The joy of the donated food in the local stores is that the food stays within the community in which the food is collected and the store is located. The food is then delivered to the local food banks within those communities.
Since 1995, Lowes Foods has collected over 16 million pounds of food! This year’s goal is to collect 600,000 pounds of food, or more. With that goal, approximately 504,000 meals can be prepared for those in need.
As local food banks struggle to keep supplies to food and dry goods for residents within the community, Lowes Foods is helping to answer the call to hunger. Demands are growing for these food banks to supply food and Lowes Foods is helping feed those in need through multiple food drives each year. “Friends Feeding Friends” is the largest food drive in North Carolina! Lowes Foods celebrates over a decade of providing nutritious foods to various communities. Customers of Lowes Foods are able to purchase bags of non-perishable items that are already bagged and ready to go! Donation bins are also located at the front of each Lowes Foods store for convenient quick and easy drop off. Customers also have the option of donating cash at the register in increments of $1.00, $3.00 and $5.00 amounts. No matter how you choose to donate, your donation is of value and is greatly appreciated!
Since donations are community efforts, local churches, civic and community groups, schools and community centers are also involved in the donation efforts. Raising awareness of hunger is a community effort and it takes a community to help alleviate our hunger problem. The Campbell’s Labels for Education is available for those schools that partner with Lowes Foods’ donation efforts. So what can you do? Simply visit your Lowes Foods store and simply give! Your friendly customer service grocer assistant will help you and thank you!
