“Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in”. That is exactly how I felt today after making my picks for this Sunday’s game between the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons. While it may not mean the same to me as it did to Michael Corleone in ‘The Godfather III’ it still rings true.
After picking the Panthers almost all season long only to be let down almost each and every time, I gave up on them. They were 2-6, and even though they were competitive in most games, some plays reminded me of 2010. Then they go a rattle off two road wins against Indianapolis and Tampa Bay. Now they have me thinking they could win on Sunday.
Keep in mind, the Bucs are not a good team, and the Colts are horrible. The Falcons have been a force in the NFC ever since Matt Ryan took over as quarterback and are a lot better than Indy and Tampa. But tell me why we can’t win on Sunday. The offense is playing well and should be able to keep up with the Falcons on the scoreboard. The home crowd should be into things, being this is our first home game in a month, and the Panthers are on their first “winning streak” in for-eva!
The thing that worries me the most is our defense. Too many injuries and inconsistent play have resulted in big games for a lot of opposing offenses.
The Las Vegas Sportsbooks set the Carolina Panthers season wins total at 4.5 before the season started. I think this Sunday puts them OVER.
