Mom Finds Painkiller Pills In 5-Year-Old Son’s Christmas Parade Candy Bag
BELMONT, N.C. (CBS Charlotte) – A North Carolina family was stunned after they say pain pills were mixed in with their child’s candy from a Christmas parade.
Tiesha Newsome says she found a hydrocodone painkiller pill mixed in with a bag of candy her 5-year-old son had caught from a parade float on Tuesday.
WBTV reports that Newsome didn’t discover the hydrocodone pill until her 5-year-old son asked her what it was on their way home from the Belmont Christmas parade. She said she didn’t think anything of it when her son shoved the bag full of candy in his pocket.
“I want to believe it was someone’s personal candy bag and they accidentally threw it out to my son,” she told WBTV. “Because there were older people in the parade. I would hope that’s what it was.”
No police report has been filed as Newsome says she wants to believe the incident as being an accidental one.
